Like the flameback angels, it also has a twin across the seas. Centropyge Flavicauda, or its common name, Pacific Pygmy Angelfish is a very similar fish that is differentiated with its white tail and colors that are not as striking as centropyge argi.

They commonly come in at sizes ranging from an inch to 3 inches. They are everything a regular dwarf angelfish is only in a much smaller package. It is one of five other angelfish that are smallest within the genus. The other three are Centropyge Flavicauda, Centropyge Acanthops, Centropyge Aurantonotus and Centropyge Fisheri.

Their habitat ranges form Florida all the way across the Caribbean ocean. They go for prices within the $20 to $30 dollar range, making them somewhat inexpensive to purchase. They are a common fish that can be seen for sale most of the time.

In their natural habitats, they graze throughout the day on algae, detritus and small crustaceans. They adapt easily to aquarium life and will eat anything offered once it has adjusted itself to its new environment.

The genus centropyge feed primarily on detritus, small crustaceans and algae. Despite this, the vast majority of them tend to accept most prepated foods in captivity. It is always important to offer a mix of both meaty and algae or spirulina best foods in the marine aquarium.

A good mix of meaty and vegetable matter is essential to the overall health of dwarf angels. Some other good foods to feed daily are * Sea Veggies Seaweed, which are nutritious seaweed for grazers. Prime Reef * Flake Food which is a blend of numerous seafood and algae such as seaweed, lobster meat, salmon, shrimp, squid and zooplankton.

The best dry pellet foods on the market come from the highly reputable makers, * New Life Spectrum. Use a * Seaweed Clip when feeding them seaweed sheets. Simply take a sheet, fold it and clip it. Secure the clip to the aquarium glass in a location of your choice and they should graze on it throughout the day. Centropyge species can nip on corals so be warned.

Centropyge Argi requires a bare minimum of 30 gallons. But like all angels, they could do with something larger like a 50 gallon aquarium. Always quarantine new fish to avoid spreading diseases and parasites in the main aquarium.

While they may be small, they can also hold their own against other species including larger dwarf angels. Do not put more than one in a small aquarium unless they are a mated pair or it is a large tank like a 150 gallons or more. In this situation, they will eventually pair up in time if one of them doesn't perish from aggression first.

Centropyge Argi is an active fish that are not shy and can be seen swimming in and out of the rock work. Once acclimated they are very hardy and make a great little addition to the aquarium.
